Cars & Updates

There is only one thing that makes it so that Summer slightly competes with Fall as the best season of the year and it is a little thing called:

DEMOLITION DERBY!

There is not much that is cooler than a bunch of cars driving around hitting each other. We have made it an annual tradition to go to the Heber Valley Demolition Derby and we have yet to be dissapointed. They not only have the regular type, but also a Truck Derby (involving trucks, vans, and suburbans) and Herbie Derby (a bunch of small stock cars zipping around)

Here was my personal favorite entry for the Truck Derby:
(please note the helmet and jumpsuit, not to mention it's an
Astro Van...oh the memories of our own Battle Van)

And this is why we love Derby's...because stuff like this happens:
Yes, the truck on top actually rolled the truck over and then drove up on top of it.
One of the most amazing moments in Demolition Derby history!!

It was a perfect night, we got a little micro-burst, but that just helped to keep the dust down, and Ryan loved the cars and the fireworks that followed.

Other than that, we have been hanging out at home.
A little after I put Ryan down for his nap one afternoon, I went in to check on him, and this is what I found:
It was really hard to hold my laugh in and not wake him up!

We also made another trip to the Zoo and Ryan LOVED the bird show.
It helped that the birds flew either directly in front of or above us so it was hard for him not to miss them.

And along with the title of this post, it turned out that last week it was actually time to update our car. This is how that turned out:

So, goodbye Jetta, you were good for 6 whole years, but the over-heating warning light and oil leaks were just too much!

Yeah for your hot new car! And it looks like you had a blast at the derby. The picture of Ryan asleep is too cute.
